Barr An Uisce, Irish for Above the Water, was founded by Ian Jones of Redcross. This is also the Irish name given to Barraniskey, which is a town set in the heart of the beautiful County of Wicklow, on the East Coast of Ireland. Known as the Garden of Ireland, Wicklow represents all that is stunning in the Irish countryside. Ian's family has a storied history in the Pub business. Barr An Uisce Wicklow Rare Irish Whiskey is a blend of 80% grain and 20% ten-year-old malt. Matured in first fill bourbon barrels for four years, it is finished in Oloroso casks for six months. 43% ABV. This unique whiskey is pale gold with aromas of vanilla, honey and fruit confit. The initial palate has a very smooth uninhibited entry with a mouth coating, viscose texture. Nutty, warm flavors approach mid-palate, with hints of raisin and plum.
