King George V is a very special edition from Johnnie Walker, packaged beautifully and made to celebrate the Royal Warrant bestowed upon the company by the monarch. This is made with some of Johnnie Walker's rarest stocks, including Cardhu, Lochnagar and even Port Ellen.
Size: 750ML
Proof: 86 (43% ABV)
Origin: Scotland
Distillery: Johnnie Walker Distillers
A special extension of the Johnnie Walker range, King George V celebrates the first Royal Warrant granted to John Walker and Sons Ltd to supply Scotch whisky to the British Royal Household in 1934, and is apparently designed to recreate how JW might have tasted back in the day. Some Port Ellen has been used, alongside Cardhu, Lochnagar and some very old grain whisky.
Nose: Rich, spicy aromas with hints of Christmas pudding, brandy butter and vanilla. Slightly nutty too, with notes of ground almond and blossom.
Palate: Fruity, creamy palate entry. Creamy notes of caramel, manuka honey and a hint of very refined wood smoke. Allspice and nutmeg develop.
Finish: Nutty finish with a surge of salt caramel and biscuity malt.
In 1857, Alexander Walker Johnnie Walker's eldest son inherited the store and began improving its selection of single malt Scotch whiskies. In addition, Alexander had apprenticed with a tea merchant in Glasgow and there, had learned the art of blending tea. Under his stewardship, the House of Walker began blending whisky and bottling it in an iconic, square bottle adorned with a slanted label.
